We’ve had a couple questions recently about what happens when Goals are damaged in a match.

Here’s an official summary:
-
In general we expect teams to shoot at the Goals at a high velocity. Goals which become damaged from shooting almost certainly will not warrant a disqualification. Also remember, that if a Robot damages their own Goal from shooting, they’re probably only having an adverse effect on their score.
-
If a Goal becomes damaged during a Match (e.g. the rods pop out of the connectors), referees are encouraged to try and fix the goal if they feel comfortable doing so.
-
Event Partners are permitted to secure the goal rods to the connectors with tape or other fasteners.
-
Replays due to Goal failures should only be done in extreme situations, where the failure ends up being Match affecting.
