So I have created a ratchet as seen in the picture, but I am unsure of how to actually install it. I will be mounting it to my slip gear so that my catapult will stay down and only spin one way. Would anyone be able to give ideas? Thank you!
The green gear in the back I am assuming has a free-spinning insert in it
- This shaft here is mounted on like a regular shaft; to the motor, slip gear axle, etc. This part spins. Also, you might want to make the shaft a bit longer so you can mount it through bearing flats.
- The outer gear’s holes should be screwed into some part of your catapult metal structure. This should not spin.
Yo, It’s 99976B here and i’m trying to make a ratchet for my cata. I was wondering if I could super-size this to a 84-tooth for a ratchet. I tried making a ratchet on the outside but it didn’t work, so I’m asking if I could take your design and use it to make my team’s catapult as I only have about a week to our first comp, so yeah.
Yeah it’s cool! I actually changed my ratchet from this design to be more high strength since this ratchet couldn’t hold 3 rubber bands worth of tension. It basically uses a 60T gear with a 1x1 aluminum bar rubber banded down to stop the gear.
Thanks, 82772C! I’ll copy this same design except super-size it to an 84-tooth gear to a 12-metal tooth, so yeah thanks! I’ve been trying to make a ratchet for a bit while my information on ratchets aren’t that big. Thanks!
